Admissions

   Admissions to Lydiard

The usual starting time is the September of the year when your child is 5 years old. Applications to our school are managed by Wiltshire Council and you can access the applications page HERE, and to complete a form on-line click HERE. We will have printed application forms in the School Office shortly if you require one.

Please contact Wiltshire Council for further information regarding applications for pupils to start in September 2016 - the application round for places for September 2016 is now closed but you can submit applications to be considered in subsequent rounds.

Once we have been sent a list of all the new children who have chosen us as their preferred school, we will write to you inviting you to come for an induction session. This first session is without the children so that you can be told all the information to help with a smooth start to your child’s learning journey with us.

This is an opportunity to meet other parents in the class, to learn more about the school, the staff & governors and to ask as many questions as you want!

You will be shown around the school by our super confident prefects from Year 6 and they will answer any questions too!

At the meeting we will talk through the induction that your child will receive – we let them have 4 taster sessions in the June / July before they start in the September. In the first week of school they come part time, sometimes mornings, sometimes afternoons so that they ease in gently and you get used to the routines too! This enables the staff to really get to know the children on a one to one basis which builds super relationships for the future.

You will be given lots of information at the start of your time with us, sometimes it can seem overwhelming! We are here to help, and if you struggle with any of the forms, Mrs Wright, Mrs Beville or Mrs Kent will be there to help – we are a friendly bunch!

If you missed starting with us in Reception (the first class) we sometimes have spaces in other year groups if children leave. Wiltshire Council admissions team will help you to apply.

All children and parents are given information when they start – our super prefects have written a booklet to help older children who start at Lydiard settle in – please ask for this in the office.

We love our school and it is our aim to make children’s time at Lydiard a very happy time – remembering it with affection when they leave – come and join us!
