Art in Lydiard Millicent Primary School

During the academic year 2011-2012, we have had two opportunities to display our artwork. The first was at the annual Arts Evening, when all the classes had a variety of artwork displayed. The second opportunity came after our successful and enjoyable Art week, which was at the beginning of Term 6. The theme was “The Olympics” and each class worked on a variety of class and individual pieces of work……all of which were then displayed in the school foyer for parents and visitors to view. We hope all these will help our application for the Artsmark Award.

Throughout the year the children have been involved in a huge variety of art, both 2D and 3D. Staff have tended to base their art on their topics, so we have seen motorsport art, Roman art, Shakespearean art, minibeast art, celebrations art, pirate art, ………the list is never ending! What fun the children have had and what skills they have been learning and developing! The standard of displays around the school has been very high and the children’s artwork has helped to brighten up our lovely new school!

Staff, too, have had the chance to develop their skills, with a TD Day, looking at Life drawing and jewellery making and a staff meeting devoted to using copper sheets to create etched picture frames and 3D pictures.

In the current year academic year, we intend to further develop our art skills in a variety of ways. Watch the photos of each class for evidence of what the children have been doing!
